After graduating from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1975, Dr. Jack Sameck served as a captain with the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps before returning home to Florida. Subsequently, he worked as a veterinary associate in the Gainesville area before purchasing Gainesville Animal Hospital in 1982. In 2005, Dr. Sameck aquired Archer Animal Hospital which was founded by Dr. Michael Harbin in 1986.

Dr. Sameck’s mission has always been to provide optimal veterinary care to his patients while also serving his clients and the community. In 1983, he founded the Interlachen Veterinary Clinic, and in 1989 he established Gainesville Animal Hospital West. Dr. Sameck is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and Business Network International (BNI), Chapter 212.

On a personal note, Dr. Sameck and his wife April have five children; Abby, Amy, Jacob, Karen, and Tommy. The Sameck’s also have two adorable schnauzer puppies, Baby and Dolly. Dr. Sameck enjoys golfing, fishing, and traveling with his family.

Hilary Bush

Dr. Hilary Bush was born and raised in Worthington, Pennsylvania, and has lived in Gainesville since 2015. She received her Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences undergraduate degree from Penn State University in 2014. She worked as a veterinary assistant at a private practice in her hometown throughout her undergraduate studies. Then she moved to Fort Myers, Florida following graduation to pursue training in veterinary emergency medicine and critical care. Dr. Bush graduated from the University of Florida with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2019.

Her professional interests include client education, ophthalmology, neurology, and dentistry. She enjoys activities outdoors, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers (sometimes win), a good book, and above all spending time with her wonderful family – husband Derek, daughter Blake, two cats (Olivia and Clint), and two dogs (Bluebell and Twix).

Greg Eckis

As a fourth-generation Floridian, Dr Eckis graduated from Lake Wales High School and attended Auburn University where he received his DVM in 1999. Upon graduation, he worked as a Bovine Veterinarian in five different states until he joined our team to expand his career in small animal medicine in 2018.

He and his family (Brittany, Skylar, Olivia, and Waylon) live in Lafayette Co where they raise sheep, cows, and catfish. They have horses, two goats, a tortoise, four rabbits, and chickens. Aside from spending time with his family on the farm he enjoys fishing the flats and hunting. Some of his hobbies include grilling, winemaking, and picking the guitar.
